Apple's Universal Control feature is super unreliable
I have an iPad Pro 11-inch (2nd generation) that is, by far, my least used Apple device. I've been trying to make better use of it lately, so I thought I'd try out Universal Control. This feature lets you link your keyboard and mouse from your Mac to your iPad, which seems like it would be useful for occasional app interactions with minimal friction.
Running macOS 15.1 and iPadOS 18.2, though, the feature has been completely unreliable.
- 'Push through edge' animation hasn't worked once, even though the setting is turned on.
- Universal Control only activates occasionally after a reboot or toggling Airplane Mode on the iPad.
- The iPad doesn't always appear in Control Center as an option for this feature, even though it always appears for screen mirroring.
- When the connection is successful, it lasts five to ten minutes at most.
I suspect the issue is Bluetooth, which has been notoriously unreliable on iPad for years. I've just finished resetting network settings in the hope that will improve Bluetooth reliability.
