Fix Microsoft Loop components in Safari

If you use Loop components, you may notice that they do not load in Safari on macOS. The root cause is that Loop components live on a different web domain than where they are typically used. Safari rightly identifies this as cross-site tracking and prevents it as a privacy measure. To fix the problem, you have two options:

  1. Use a different browser when dealing with Loop components (and potentially some other Microsoft 365 products).
  2. Turn off advanced tracking protection in Safari.

How to turn off advanced tracking protection in Safari

Go to Safari > Settings > Privacy > Advanced Settings, and uncheck Use advanced tracking and fingerprint protection.

This is not a great solution if online privacy is important to you (as it should be). What I may do is use Microsoft Edge for macOS when I have to work in Microsoft 365, and Safari for everything else.
