Brief musing on freedom

'Freedom is ethical and minimizes coercion.' —some billionaire, assuredly

In the human body, we have a number of joints. These joints are configured to allow a range of motion. Free movement within the normal range of motion is a sign of a healthy person.

Likewise, body parts that move outside the normal range of motion are considered damaged. The ankles, knees, elbows, wrists, knuckles, and neck are all meant to move in a particular way. When they move completely unrestricted, it indicates serious injury.

True freedom, like tolerance, has limits.
